Byron With A GoPro

I had the chance to play around with a GoPro camera this past weekend and I have to say it is pretty cool bit of kit. For one, the camera comes with a solid looking waterproof housing which, apart from providing a waterproof seal, seems to offer plenty of protection. The other attractive feature, for those who play outside, is the variety of mounting options available. All sorts of suction cup, helmet, handlebar, headstrap and chest mounts can be bought as after market extras or in kits with a camera. Definitely worth checking out for anyone that likes to record their adventures.

This footage was shot in the Byron Bay area over the weekend with just a few of the available mounts.

5 Star Summer Running

There are three desirable traits to look for in a trail running destination if you really want to enjoy your running during the oppressive Queensland summer : elevation, shade and water. Lamington National Park ticks all of these boxes and features around 150km of trails!

For those that haven't run or hiked at Lamington before, the trails I ran yesterday are a good intro. Start at Binna Burra and head out on the Daves Creek loop, a really nice 12k mix of rainforest and dryer forest with views out over the Numinbah valley. Then to cool off run the 6k out and back down to Gwongoorool pool, a perfect deep swimming hole on the Coomera river. If your after a bit longer mission my favourite is the Ships Stern/Daves Creek link-up which I wrote about here last summer. Enjoy!
